The Collective

About Mwinuur My name is Mwintuur. I am an Afrocentric digital artist. My journey started about three years ago when I decided a take a bold move in stepping into the art world. I have been a traditional artist for majority of my life, I have experience in painting from acrylic and watercolor to oil paint and even work with charcoal. Three years ago, i decided to explore digital art as i saw it as new frontier in promoting African culture which is center piece of my pieces. Growing up in Accra, Ghana I've been surrounded by the many cultures and sounds of my country. Aside that I myself i have been surrounded by many artists, photographers and architects my whole life, i grew tired of being just a spectator and make my name on the African art scene. My vision as an artist is under the theme "who we are and what we can be". I believe the African culture is so much more and with the use of my Afrofuturism and Afrosurrealism i can push this challenge the idea of black art. At the start of my work, in 2021,i was mostly indulged in collage digital art and in 2022 decided to move into 3d art, study the application blender and other 3d applications.2023 would be breakthrough year for me, I would take part in a number of exhibitions and collaborations with the likes of New Comma(London,England), the Young Creatives(Accra,Ghana),Ghana musical artist $pacely, Ghanaian stylist and brand owner Adom Gee, the Spark organisation, who celebrated a year of empowering voices against sexual abuse, and recently with director and producer Koby Cole for the movie "Mother's smile". I also had the chance to be featured in the Suboart international magazine for emerging artists. I have also worked as a designer for a number of brands in said year. Black art is so much more and I want to be and instrument to tell the world stories of my people and our culture; who we are and what can be.
