Shape: Week One

This piece captures the chaos of artists scrambling to figure out Shape's Layer 2 launch on September 30th, 2024. Watching my NFT homies navigate contract errors, botched mints, and the confusion of a new system with little guidance, I joked they looked like chickens running around with their heads cut off—so that’s what you have here. Artists, frenzied and chaotic, trying to figure it all out without clear support, stumbling through a process that should be simple but feels like solving a Rubik’s cube. And then there’s that dumb black circle logo—meant to represent simplicity, but like much of the launch, it left me with a raised eyebrow. That said, pulling off a launch like this isn’t easy, and Shape’s effort is ambitious. This piece reflects that moment in the NFT world when platforms strive for innovation amidst all the growing pains: a mix of creativity, confusion, and the feeling of being lost while figuring things out. Meanwhile, I’m sitting back, chilling, and watching it all unfold.
