About the Artist

Cheyenne, a Kansas City based artist, finds inspiration in fantasy and the beauty of the cosmos. She makes digital illustrations of cute and colorful aliens as well as dreamy digital paintings inspired by nebulae and cloudy skies. Her artwork explores the possibility of life in the cosmos, celebrates individuality, and embraces the beauty of the universe. Cheyenne made her first physical art sale in high school to her principal. She took a few studio art classes in college, but is mostly self-taught. Cheyenne stepped away from art for several years to pursue a career in geology. In 2021, she quit her "big girl" job to pursue her passion to create, and has been making digital art since. Her artwork has been displayed at the Digital Dreams gallery in Kansas City.

About the Art

"Desert Glow" was inspired by an open call called "Digital Wilderness." The open call's theme was based on the idea that the digital art scene is similar to the wild west. It's a new frontier. This piece symbolizes the digital art scene as a whole. The desert scenery is familiar, but there is something different about it; the cacti are strange and the sky is abstract; and the entire piece changes dynamically based on the time of day. Similarly, the digital art scene today may seem familiar on the surface, but it is unconventional and ever-changing.
