What is Ornare
Ornare is a celebration of the harmony that exists between generative art principles, math and classical design techniques. Inspired by design theory from Pythagoras, Wenzel Jamnitzer and Albert Munsell. Each piece is a collaboration between algorithmic precision and the intricate craftsmanship of bygone eras. In a deliberate departure of typical digital aesthetics, this collection embraces the organic allure of nature as a guiding principle. It seeks inspiration from the fluidity of natural forms, rough textures, muted palettes and the intricate patterns found in plants. Chaos is at the center of the collection, used as a deliberate means to achieve tranquility. The interplay of disorder and order reflects the chaos inherent in nature itself. Each element may seem untamed at first glance, but upon closer inspection harmony can be discovered
Creation process
The collection is created using homebrewn tools build with SideFX Houdini. Every tool is an interpertation of classical design theory, brought together in one final composition. The collection has a minimal influence of “random”. With the exception of the initial seed value, every element of the design is a reactive to another design element. Density of the ornamental elements for example influence color. Minimalization of randomness is used as a guiding principle to prevent the collection from drifting into meaningless noise. Every artwork takes multiple minutes to generate, making the algorithm too complex to execute in real-time. Hence the collection algorithm will not use blockchain technology as part of its generation.
